IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion | Product Review | Pros and Cons for Oily Skin

Today I will share my list of pros and cons of the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion and tips on how to incorporate this product into your daily routine in order to reap the most benefits.

The IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion has been my go-to moisturizer for years now. When I run out, forget it while traveling, or just find myself in any situation where I have to use a different type of moisturizer, I immediately feel the difference.

I have combination skin with a tendency to get extremely oily in my t-zone. My skin is also very sensitive. Although I have no major skin concerns like acne or hyperpigmentation, because of how sensitive my skin is, I still struggle to find products that sit well with my skin and make it radiant.

I’m no skin expert, so I did some digging on the actual It Cosmetics site and referred to Hyram, Youtube's Skincare expert. Hyram, Youtube’s skincare expert. I will complement the list of benefits I have compiled from personal experience with information from these sources to help you make the decision on whether you want to give this product a chance or not.

PROS OF THE IT COSMETICS CONFIDENCE IN A GEL LOTION:

    • GOOD INGREDIENTS

Glycerin is the first ingredient on the list. On the It Cosmetics site they state that Glycerin helps “[pull] water (hydration) into the surface from deeper levels in the skin.” This increased hydration helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. For a more detailed description of the ingredients and their functions check out this post on the It Cosmetics site.

If you read the ingredients, you can also find a number of ceramides, but according to Hyram they are low on the list of ingredients indicating a smaller quantity relative to other ingredients in the product. Because of this, he suggests using other products like Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel Cream $14.99 or the Olay Sensitive Calming Facial Moisturizer for $18.99 that provide more hydration and are more affordable. In my case, this lotion has provided the perfect amount of hydration, even in the coldest winter months.

    • OIL FREE

I hate the feeling of greasy skin, but I love glowy skin. The It Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion gives me the glow I want without feeling greasy, especially in my T-Zone area. Because this Lotion is oil free it also feels super lightweight while offering heavy duty hydration. I have used other moisturizers in the past and found myself searching for a richer product in the winter months, but have never felt that way with the Gel Lotion.

    • TRAVEL FRIENDLY PACKAGING

      • Despite the fact that the product comes in a container that is almost 6 inches long, it only has 2.5oz which means I never have to try and pump a product into a travel-friendly container or buy a separate travel size version of the product. Most importantly, I never have to worry about leaving my skincare essential behind

CONS OF THE IT COSMETICS CONFIDENCE IN A GEL LOTION:

    • PRODUCT PILLS/BALLS UP

When I introduced a new sunscreen into my morning routines I experienced some pilling. While doing research about this product for this blogpost, I realized that the pilling might be a result of the plastic used in the product formula. Hyram shared that because of this plastic-based ingredient, he felt the product never fully absorbed into his skin. I never felt this way. In fact, in comparison to products I have tried in the past, the IT Cosmetics Confidence in  Gel Lotion quickly absorbs into my skin and always feels light. After hearing about Hyram’s experience I decided to reflect on my entire time using this product and remember that the product pilled when I first started consistently using sunscreen. I assumed this was because I didn’t let the lotion dry down enough before applying sunscreen or the pilling could be the result of the combination of the ingredients from both products. After a few days and experimenting with my routine I realized it was the former because I am still using the same products and no longer experience piling.

    BEST APPLICATION METHOD:

On the It cosmetics website, they recommend applying on clean skin that is slightly wet. I like to wash my face, then clean my skin once more using micellar water and a cotton round. While my face is still slightly damp from the micellar water, I apply 2-3 drops of niacinamide serum. When the niacinamide is almost completely dry I apply the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion. I then let the lotion completely dry before applying my favorite sunscreen: Supergoop Glowscreen.

    RESULTS/EXPERIENCE:

Even without the additional products like Niacinamide or sunscreen, when I just use the It Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion I feel that my skin is plump and hydrated as mentioned in the product description. This is a feeling I experienced before researching the ingredients and their intended effects. It was so much fun doing in-depth research about this product finally finding the words to describe the feeling of refreshment and plumpness I sensed on my skin. Given my experience with this product and brand, I really want to try more products from the line.

    WHERE TO BUY

IT Cosmetics: Buy it here for $36.00

Sephora: Buy it here for $36.00

ULTA:  Buy it here for $36.00

This product is the same price at all three locations, but in some locations, you can accumulate points and get a little gift later on, or others have sales more often.

Another product from this brand that I really want to try is the IT Cosmetic Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream. I feel that I struggle a lot with dark circles and have heard amazing things about the IT Cosmetic Eye Cream. Similarly, I have heard amazing things about The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG for reducing dark circles, and this product is much more affordable. If you have tried either of these products, let me know your thoughts.

Update: I tried the Ordinary Solution - See my review here

    Thanks for tuning in :)
